DC at IAPPA: WELL Building Standard & Alternative Energy Presentations
IAPPA 2020 is a great opportunity to discover new trends, tools, and technologies in the marketplace available to physical plant managers and maintenance professionals. This year, Design Collaborative has taken our engagement to an entirely different level by delivering two presentations designed to inform, educate, and collaborate with attendees to solve your campus maintenance challenges.
The keynote presentation, “WELL Building Standards Overview,” dives into the WELL Certification process, which is promoted as “the leading tool for advancing health and well-being in buildings globally” by the International WELL Building Institute. The presenters, Kevin Scully, AIA, principal, Quinn O’Heeny, project manager, and Jeremiah Hatfield, RA, LEED AP BD+C, architect, will review the WELL Building Standard’s history, discuss the V2 standard, display the WELL program in action, and provide case studies within the higher education market and across the Midwest.
The second session, “Saving Green by Going Green: How Colleges and Universities are Using Alternative Energy,” will be presented with the afternoon Breakout Sessions and features Design Collaborative’s Jason Baker, PE, LEED AP. This session explores compelling reasons to incorporate alternative energy into higher education campuses, discusses the most common types of alternative energy, highlights several university case studies, and previews the rebates and incentives available for owners and institutions considering alternative energy uses.
