DC Gives Back this Holiday Season

Design Collaborative participated in the Fort Wayne Christmas Bureau’s annual Adopt-A-Family program again this year. DC employees generously donated money and items to make sure our family received everything on their wish list. Special thanks go to Dawn Houser, business manager, and Misty James, DC’s office manager, who spent many hours coordinating the program as well as shopping for gifts!

SCAN Garden Party

Several Design Collaborative employees donated their time and talents to build pieces that were auctioned off at this year’s SCAN (Stop Child Abuse and Neglect) Garden Party on Friday, September 9. DC presented a bar and a set of cornhole boards that were auctioned off for total of $5,200! Thank you to the following employees who helped make the night a success: Tim Terman, Nathan Woods, Kelly Shields, Kelli Warner, Ryan Birkey, Greg Estes, Jamie Inskeep and Jess Miller.

On Wednesday night, August 24, the DC Volleyball team won three straight matches with a total record of 6-0 including a victory over the Weigand Construction team. They continue their quest tonight (8.25) for the championship of the YMCA Corporate Challenge.

DC Bowls for a Good Cause

On Thursday, August 18, Design Collaborative participated in the Junior Achievement Bowl-A-Thon at Crazy Pinz in Fort Wayne. A special thanks to Jess Miller, Kelli Warner, Pat Pasterick, Jamie Inskeep and Kelsey Allen for representing the DC team at the event. Through fundraising and donations, they raised $1,013 for this great organization!

DC begins 2011 YMCA Corporate Challenge!

On Tuesday, August 16, Design Collaborative kicked off the 2011 YMCA Corporate Challenge with an intense night of dodgeball. A great effort was put forth by the DC team, who won one of their three games. The night’s MVP, Kelly Shields, kept DC alive in the second game, going up one against five, although ultimately being defeated in a close battle. The team looks forward to their next corporate challenge event, volleyball, against Weigand Construction!

On Friday, August 5, 2011 Design Collaborative celebrated the end of the work week with a “Minute-to-Win-It” contest. Ryan Birkey and Matt Elliott tied for the championship which may have included fabulous prizes.

2011 Egg Drop

For the 13th consecutive year The Design Collaborative Egg Drop event was held on Sunday, July 10, 2011. This year we had 47 contestants who built contraptions to protect eggs being dropped off the roof of Science Central.

Chalk Walk 2011

On Saturday morning, July 9, 2011, the street artists of Design Collaborative chalked up another creation for the annual 3 Rivers Festival Chalk Walk. Canterbury 8th Graders Show Their Design Talent

On Monday, June 6th, DC’ers were joined at our weekly Staff Meeting by four 8th grade future designers from Canterbury Middle School in Fort Wayne. Andrew Tran, Chris Noe, Morgan Rolland and Sam Tallo displayed their design skills in the creation of building models ranging from a golf retreat, to a swimming pool, to an ocean view villa. Prompted by a 2010 tour of Design Collaborative, eighth grade Canterbury teacher Libby Kady initiated the model design project to teach students about architecture and engineering design.
