Design Collaborative

DC is honored to be named the 2011 Indiana Distinguished Firm of the Year by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Indiana Chapter.

This statewide award was created in 2009 to identify, recognize and honor an Indiana firm which, through consistent leadership, vision and ability, has distinguished itself through design and implementation of works of architecture that enhance the quality of our environment, while showing a commitment to the community and architecture profession.

The 2011 Indiana Distinguished Firm of the Year winner, Design Collaborative, is proud to be the first Fort Wayne recipient of this award. Design Collaborative’s recognition as a “Best Place to Work” in previous years as well as their unrelenting commitment to the community and mission—to improve people’s worlds—made them deserving of winning this year’s award.

The firm was honored at the AIA’s Regional Conference on September 16 at the Schuster Center in Dayton, OH.

On Thursday, May 5th, DC Architects Ron Dick and Jeremy Hatfield attended the Building Contractors Association (BCA) Excellence in Construction Awards Ceremony to celebrate Charis House’s win in the “New Construction – Under $4m” category. DC provided architectural, engineering and interior design services, the Hagerman Group was the Construction Manager, and Engineering Resources provided civil and structural engineering services on the project.

Fort Wayne Rescue Ministries CEO Reverend Donovan Coley and Charis House Program Director Toni Lovell accepted the award on behalf of Charis House, a women & children’s shelter providing emergency and temporary housing to those in need.

On Wednesday, November 17th, DC’ers attended the annual AIA Fort Wayne Banquet and Awards Ceremony at One Summit Square. DC took home an AIA Merit Award for its design of the Hanning & Bean Leased Office Building. The project team, led by Ron Dick, Tim Terman and Kelly Shields, accepted the award along with Bill Bean, President of Hanning & Bean Enterprises, and Al McComb, President of Harold McComb & Sons.

DC is proud to announce that the University of Indianapolis East Hall has been recognized as an Outstanding Project for the Dorm/Residence Hall category in Learning by Design’s Fall 2010 Special Edition on Green Design & Technology. East Hall was built with Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC), a highly sustainable building material. The East Hall project team was led by Kevin Scully, Tim Terman, Jason Baker, Eric Sank, Jamie Inskeep, Brian Andrews, and Kelli Warner. Congrats to UIndy and the project team!

At a recent reception in Indianapolis, Design Collaborative was presented with a Best Places to Work in Indiana 2010 award.  We ranked #22 in the Small/Medium Companies list.  This is the second consecutive year we have been recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Indiana.

Design Collaborative was recently voted one of the Best Places to Work in Indiana for 2010.  This is the second year we have received the honor.  The ratings are based on a two-part process consisting of an employer questionnaire and an employee satisfaction survey. 

We agree that DC is a great place to work, not only because of events like the DC Wii Olympics (which doesn’t hurt!), but also because everyone here works together toward our mission of improving people’s worlds.

On Wednesday, November 11th, Design Collaborative received an AIA (American Institute of Architects) Fort Wayne Merit Design Award for the Emerging Growth Center (EGC) at the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center in Fort Wayne.   The EGC features a high-end Conference Center with flexible meeting space.  Ron Dick, AIA, LEED AP led the DC design team, including David West, Project Architect; Jason Baker, Mechanical Engineer; and Eric Sank, Electrical Engineer.   One Eleven Design was the interior design consultant on the project. 

On Wednesday, September 30th, the Indiana Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) presented the 2009 Award of Honor to Design Collaborative for the Bethel College Student Housing project.  The student housing was built by Kaser-Spraker Construction of South Bend and was completed in October 2008.  The Design Collaborative Team was led by Kevin Scully, Greg Estes, Craig Scully, Katie Papagiannis, Brian Andrews, and Jamie Inskeep.
